Officer West and Officer Strands on patrol Bike patrol is an extremely useful tool in Law Enforcement.  Fond du Lac PD uses bicycles to pro-actively patrol hard to reach areas where squad cars have difficulty.  Here Officer Strands and Officer West can patrol a back alley area of a bank. 
Bike Patrol Officers are deployed at all times of the day and are not limited to any area of the city.  If there is a known neighborhood problem bike patrol can be used to conduct covert operations or in some cases simply let their presence know.
Bike patrol is also used in our parks and high traffic areas during the daytime.  This allows easy interaction between the citizens and police officers that otherwise may have been missed if driving a squad car.  Officer Olson and Officer Duveneck on patrol
During special events such as Walleye Weekend the Bike Patrol Officers are extremely valuable.  Officers can respond quickly to disturbances and have been utilized in finding lost children on many occasions.
