As the City of Fond du Lac believes that children are our future, the Officer Friendly Program tries to make that future a safe one. Every Spring and Fall, Officer Friendly visits approximately 3000 children in grades Kindergarten through Third. Topics include stranger awareness, protective behaviors, playground safety, use of 911 and many more. Teaching methods include lecture, role playing, and the McGruff puppet. Various handouts are also given out. 

In the Spring safety coloring books are given along with safety bookmarks, in the Fall reflective trick or treat bags are given to the children. With the continued success of the Officer Friendly Program we feel that we will have thousands of Junior Crime fighters all helping to Take a Bite out of Crime.
