 Officer Steve
Endries and K9 Arkon became partners with the Fond du Lac Police
Department in May of 1996. Arkon was a dual purpose male German
Shepherd imported from Germany. This K9 team worked along with
the officers on patrol and on emergency on-call type basis.
Arkon was trained to protect his handler and other officers who
were nearby when needed.
Arkon was extremely useful when
searching buildings, fields, parks, etc... for fleeing or hiding
suspects who may have been armed. Arkon was used to track the
direction of travel of fleeing suspects through terrains where
Arkon used his nose to locate the suspect. Upon finding the
suspect, Arkon would bark to advise officers of the find.
Arkon passed away unexpectedly in August of 2001.
Officer Endries has since received a new partner. In
October of 2001 Officer Endries teamed up with K-9 Ronny. |
