Seigo, a 3
year old German Shepherd, was imported from Germany in October
of 2000 to be teamed up with Officer Joel Gudex. Seigo is a
dual purpose K9 that is efficient in assisting officers with
building and area searches, tracking, officer protection,
criminal apprehension and narcotic detection.
During Seigo's
first year on the force, he was instrumental in apprehending a
burglar inside a closed establishment, as well as a felony drunk
driver who fled on foot after a short pursuit.
Seigo replaces
Officer Gudex's first K9, "Ferro", who was 9 years of age he
retired in September of 2000 due to medical reasons. Officer
Gudex and Seigo continue to serve the community and currently
work the night shift. |
