Release of Sex Offender: James A Strook – January 18, 2005

James A. Strook is being re-released from prison.  Strook was originally released from prison in January of 2003 after serving ten years for 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a child.  Strook violated terms of his supervised release and was sent back to prison in April of 2003.  Strook has now completed his prison term and will be placed back into the Fond du Lac Community on January 18, 2005.  Strook was originally placed in the northwest section of the City of Fond du Lac on North Butler St.  On February 3, 2005 Strook moved to 151 Forest Avenue, Apt #6, which is on Forest Avenue near South Brooke Street.

 

Strook has a history of sexually assaulting young boys, ages 7 to 9 years old.  Strook was taken into custody on April 17, 2003 after he violated rules of his supervised release.  Strook removed his ankle bracelet that was used for electronic monitoring.  Strook was sent back to prison for this violation.  Strook has now reached his mandatory release date and will be released back into the Fond du Lac community on January 18, 2005.  Strook will be placed under strict supervision by the Division of Community Corrections. 


The Fond du Lac Police Department along with the Division of Community Corrections held a Sex Offender Community Notification Meeting at the Fond du Lac Police Department on January 17, 2005.  This meeting held to inform the community of Strook’s release and outline the strict rules that were put into place.  The meeting had presenters from various community groups to help our citizens in dealing with sex offenders living in the community.  A panel of community members was on hand to answer questions from citizens. The Fond du Lac Police Department  hand delivered flyers about Strook’s release in the neighborhood that Strook was originally released to on Saturday January 15, 2005.  and his new neighborhood on February 4, 2005.  The department also notified schools and other community partners who operate in the area of release.

As of the date of this bulletin, there are 16,745 sex offenders who have registered as required and are living in the State of Wisconsin.  Fond du Lac County shows 173 registered sex offenders.
